Susan Gasser's epigenetic research in Basel breaks new ground.

 

Award winning researcher, Susan Gasser, is director of the world-renowned Friedrich Miescher Institute in Basel and Professor of Molecular Biology at the city's university. She's a pioneer in epigenetics, the study of changes in gene expression caused by environmental factors, not by changes in the underlying DNA sequence. Her aim is to understand disease on a molecular level, so that new treatments can be developed.
