A study shows that key industries in the Basel region will create around 40,000 new jobs by 2020.

The study, conducted by the market research institute Prognos, shows that the Basel region is economically well positioned for the coming decade. It has over eleven key industries: pharmaceuticals, agrotechnology, speciality chemicals, medical engineering, the capital goods industry, banks, insurance, logistics, the trade fair industry, tourism and the creative sector (culture, architecture etc.). The most important drivers of growth are likely to be the life sciences industries, such as the pharmaceutical sector.
