Advanced Osteotomy Tools - AOT AG closes seed financing round raising CHF 1.6 mio.

Advanced Osteotomy Tools - AOT AG announces the successful closing of the seed financing round raising CHF 1.6 mio. AOT is a spinoff of the University Hospital and the University of Basle developing integrated systems for roboter guided surgery using laser technology.

The seed money was provided by EVA – the Basel start-up agency, Zürcher Kantonalbank, and private investors predominantly of the Start Angels Network. “The trust of the investors in our project is encouraging and validates the concept”, says Alfredo Bruno, cofounder and CEO.

 

Prof. Hans-Florian Zeilhofer, Head of cranio-maxillo-facial surgery at the the University Hospital of Basel, cofounder and board member of AOT comments: “The funding gives us the chance to create a unique system applying cutting edge technology to assist the surgeon in executing complex operations successfully. Our product will be the first to apply laser technology to cut bones and represents therefore a real technological breakthrough.” The start-up combines expertise in laser technology, imaging, navigation and robotics and builds on the intense research at the Hightech Research Center of Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery (HFZ) at the University Hospital Basel. Medics, physicists, computer scientists, engineers, mathematicians, artists and scientists of different research fields are working there together in interdisciplinary ways.


Advanced Osteotomy Tools - AOT AG, Basel, is a privately owned MedTech company. It is a spin-off of the University Hospital Basel dedicated to the development of medical devices and tools for osteotomy pursuing the vision of “contact-free bone surgery using laser, robotics and navigation systems”. The 1st product to be developed, registered and marketed will be an innovative medical device to perform all interventions of Cranio-Maxillo-Facial (CMF) as well as several other complex surgeries of the human body.
