Franz Saladin becomes Director of Basel Chamber of Commerce

The CEO of BaselArea, Franz Saladin, is to become Director of the Chamber of Commerce for Basel City and Baselland. His experience of promoting the region internationally will prove invaluable in his future function.

In September at the latest, Franz Saladin (44) will broaden the scope of his responsibility for the economic region of Basel when he becomes Director of the Chamber of Commerce for Basel-Stadt and Baselland (HKBB).


A key project of Saladin’s with BaselArea has been the development of a strategy aimed at cultivating the market for promotion of the region. He was also instrumental in making cooperation with Canton Jura a reality.


The Board of Directors and the BaselArea team are delighted for Franz Saladin and offer him their warmest congratulations on his nomination and the very best wishes for success in his new role.


BaselArea is responsible for the international promotion of the economic region of Basel. The joint economic promotion of the cantons Basel City, Baselland and Jura provides support to foreign companies settling in the region and advice to start-up companies. The services of BaselArea are available to interested parties free of charge. Every a year the organization looks after around 500 clients and supports about 80 companies starting up or settling in the region.


BaselArea is funded by the two cantons Basel City and Baselland, the Chamber of Commerce for Basel City and Baselland, the Basel Employers’ Association, the Baselland Chamber of Economic Affairs, the Employees’ Association for the Basel Region, the Commercial Association of Baselland and the Association of Employers for Baselland.
