BaselArea enters into partnership with industry association of Shanghai

The chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shanghai (CCPIT) and the CEO of BaselArea will sign a cooperation agreement in Shanghai on 27 May 2011. The aim of the memorandum of understanding is to expand business relations between the two regions.

The memorandum of understanding provides for an active exchange of information between the two leading life sciences regions of Shanghai and Basel. In addition, BaselArea and the CCPIT will recommend potential partners and investors in their own region who could actively engage in business in the other partner’s region.

With this strategy of “preferred partnerships”, BaselArea is attempting to attract direct investments of foreign companies to the in Basel region. Franz Saladin, Chief Executive Officer of BaselArea, also emphasizes that “we are happy to be the first region in Switzerland to sign a cooperation agreement with the leading industrial association of Shanghai. We hope this will lead to more direct access to potential investors from the greater Shanghai area, especially in the field of life sciences”.

The strategy of “preferred partnerships” is part of BaselArea’s marketing strategy, which was agreed upon in the autumn of last year. BaselArea is primarily responsible for settling foreign companies in this region, so for activities directed outside this region we are cooperating with regional partners.
