BaselArea increased its company establishments in 2011
BaselArea last year supported 80 company establishments. Eighteen of these were companies from abroad. The organization was likewise involved in creating or preserving a total of 625 jobs in the region.
Despite the economic crisis in Europe, BaselArea was able to support 80 company establishments in the region last year. This is 18 percent more than in the previous year. Eighteen of these were companies from abroad that set up branches in the region. The companies came from Germany, USA, Canada, Eastern Europe, Russia, South Africa, China and Brazil.
The 80 company establishments created 187 jobs, which amounted to a 52 percent increase over 2010.
Through real estate brokerage for companies already here, BaselArea supported the preservation of 438 jobs in the Basel region. The organization was thus involved in creating or preserving a total of 625 jobs in the region in 2011, which amounts to an increase of 19 percent over the previous year.
BaselArea is responsible for the international promotion of the economic region of Basel. The joint economic promotion of Cantons Basel-Stadt, Baselland and Jura supports foreign companies putting down roots here and advises new startups.
