Roche is world champion in R&D

According to a study by consulting firm Booz & Co., Roche invests more in Research & Development (R&D) than any other company worldwide, knocking Japanese motor manufacturer Toyota off the top spot.

Roche increased its R&D spend by 11.6% to 9.1 billion dollars, and beat the software giant Microsoft and mobile manufacturer Nokia to the second and third position, respectively. With Novartis ranked sixth, there is also another Basel company in the Top 10. A total of 29 Swiss companies made it to the Top 1000. www.booz.com
